How to Clean Badly Stained Tile Grout

How to Clean Tile Grout?

Cleaning bathroom tiles may be easy but cleaning grout can be quite arduous if badly stained. Stained tile grout is never a pleasant sight. We have figured out 8 ways you can work on the stained grout. Following our guide, you can also know how to clean bathroom wall tiles stain easily.

Let’s get started-

Method 1 of 8: Scrub with a Brush and Warm Water

This is for stains that don’t look so stubborn. Use a brush that has stiff bristles, they’re good for cleaning.

You can use alternatives made particularly for cleaning grout as well. Thoroughly scrub the grout edges in a clockwise direction with lukewarm water. Then wait for the area to dry. If the buildup is too much, let lukewarm water rest on the grout for a while then scrub.

Method 2 of 8: Rinse with Vinegar and Warm Water.

Try using vinegar for heavy dirt and light stains. In a spray bottle, make a solution of vinegar and warm water in a 1:1 ratio. Allow the product to remain for five minutes after pouring it on the grout. Scrape the grout with a stiff brush after that.

This is how to clean stained tiles using vinegar and warm water.

Method 3 of 8: Apply Paste of Baking Soda and Vinegar

In a small dish or bucket, combine 3 cups baking soda and 1 cup warm water. To make a paste, combine the ingredients in a mixing bowl.

Apply the paste to the discolored grout. Working in tiny areas will prevent the paste from drying out as you clean. You can also clean bathroom tiles using baking soda.

Coat grout lines with the paste then spray on the vinegar solution. This will increase cleaning power more. Scrub with a hard-bristled brush and wash with water after the solution has stopped foaming.

Method 4 of 8: Apply Hydrogen Peroxide on the Grout

For moderate stains, hydrogen peroxide is required. The amount will depend on the grout. It is readily accessible in most medicine stores, required. You may use the product like it is. Or make a paste by mixing with baking soda and dish soap. 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup baking soda, and one teaspoon dish soap is an excellent ratio.

Use it on the grout, it’ll help to loosen the dirt. Then wipe it off clean. It’s a very easy and harmless process and doesn’t contain bleach so you can also clean black bathroom tiles with it.

Method 5 of 8: Apply Oxygen Bleach

For stubborn and deep stains, use oxygen bleach as a grout cleaner. In a 2-gallon bucket, make a solution of roughly 3 teaspoons of powdered oxygen bleach and lukewarm water. When you want to clean grout, ventilate the area first.

Then attentively read and follow the product’s application instructions. Give 10 to 15 minutes for the oxygen bleach solution to soak and work. Then rinse away the solution with clean water.

Method 6 of 8: Apply Little Amount of Chlorine Bleach

To clean grout, apply ¾ cup of chlorine bleach with one gallon of water. Or you can use commercial cleaners containing chlorine bleach carefully.

Make sure you wash the vinegar away properly. Because residues of vinegar combined with bleach can induce a very harmful chlorine gas into the air.

Use it occasionally and don’t make this a habit. Using corrosive cleansers on a regular basis may erode the grout. So only use them when absolutely necessary.

Method 7 of 8: Use Steam

Cleaning using steam mops might be a cost-effective and ecologically friendly option. For home cleaning, there are a variety of steam cleaners available.

To keep your grout in good shape, spray it with vinegar and clean it down once a week. Rinse the grout with alcohol to keep mold growth at bay.

In any situation, a weekly spray and wipes might save you a huge amount of time. And it also works to maintain your home’s appealing appearance.

Method 8 of 8: Use a Commercial Product

Grout cleaners on the market can swiftly eliminate mold and mildew. Clear grout white lines can be repaired in this manner. These usually function in one of two ways. You can cleanse with a brush or you can spray and wipe.

Here are our recommendations for the best result-

Product 1- Black Diamond Stoneworks Ultimate Grout Cleaner
Product 2- Soft Scrub Soft Scrub Gel Cleanser.

Spray-on solutions promise to operate without scrubbing, saving time and energy.  But they might also include solvents, chlorine bleach or stronger acids,

Mopping with a brush and cleaner takes some time and effort. It may be particularly effective on floors and highly dirty grout. So, check the contents list and follow the recommendations before using a product. Don’t forget to take safety precautions.

How To Prevent Grout on Tile?- Tips & Tricks

It’s good to prevent stains on grout. Otherwise, you may need to change your tiles at some point. So we found out some tips you can use to prevent strains on grouts. Take a look at them-

Use Walk-off Mats

Lay walk-off mats at each of your home’s entrances. Walk-off mats aren’t only for decoration; they also help to reduce dirt tracked inside your house.

Use rugs or mats in the kitchen and dining room. Examine your sink, stove, and the areas around your dogs’ food and water bowls for any stains. This is where food and water gather. Purchase a machine-washable rug that can be washed alongside your microfiber cloths.

Use Good Mopping Techniques

Always use the best mopping techniques.  There are two things to bear in mind when mopping. One is to avoid overly soaking your flooring. If you’re using a dunk-in-water mop, this is very important. Each time you soak it, it becomes filthy. The second method is to mop little sections at a time until they are completely clean.

Use Magic Erasers

Keep Magic Erasers on hand to remove surface debris before it becomes a problem. This is especially essential in locations where water is continually present, such as sinks and showers.

And that’s all we could inform you. We hope we were able to let you know how to clean bathroom floor tiles stains. Make sure to follow our preventive measures for avoiding stained grouts.

FAQ

Question: How do I whiten my grout again?

Answer: Lemon juice, a light disinfectant that organically removes grout stains. It should be sprayed over the grout. White vinegar may also be applied to clean grout without the use of chemicals. Pour the vinegar into a cap then over the unclean grout lines. Allow the lemon juice or vinegar to stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

Question: What materials are used by experts to clean grout?

Answer: The majority of experts utilize a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and water. When compared to specialist Ph-neutral grout cleaners, this approach is frequently more efficient.

Question: Is Hydrogen peroxide bad for grout?

Answer: No it’s not. It’s totally harmless. If baking soda alone isn’t cutting it, try replacing the water with hydrogen peroxide. Baking soda’s mild abrasive qualities aid in filth removal from porous grout, while hydrogen peroxide works as a moderate, non-toxic bleach.
