How to Clean Shower Brush – A Step by Step Guide

How to Clean Shower Brush – The Procedure

The process of cleaning your shower brush is fairly easy. Now you won’t have to buy a new one every time it gets dirty. 

So, without any further delay, let’s jump right in! 

What you’ll need?

Hold your horses. Before you get down to business, you’ll need some things for the process to be a success. 

Here are the things you’ll need.

  • Any regular comb. 
  • Cup of pure ammonia and shampoo.
  • A pot and boiling water.
  • Both cold and warm water.

Step 1 – Lightly clean your shower brush

It is crucial to prepare your brush before you dip it in boiling water with chemicals

Take a comb and run it through the brush. This will clear out any light dirt or hairs stuck on the brush. Comb the bristle until you can’t see any hair on it. Now it’s ready to be dipped. 

Comb the brush frequently so that it does not catch any dirt often. It’ll make your work easier.

Step 2 – Prepare the mixture.

Take a pot and put it on the stove. Make sure you put the stove at a high temperature. Fill 70% of the pot with water and wait for it to boil.

Carefully pour ½ cup of ammonia inside the pot. Be sure not to touch the cup. Then put a cup of shampoo in it as well.

All you have to do is stir the pot thoroughly. Now you have a mixture to clean your bath brush. 

Step 3 – Place the brush in the mixture.

Take the brush and soak it in the mixture. Be sure to soak it properly because otherwise, the mixture won’t be able to do its job. 

Let the brush sit in the boiling water for around 15 minutes. This will ensure that every inch of the brush is soaked well enough. Thus, helping you loosen up the dirt inside.

Step 4 – Running warm water through it.

After 15 minutes, please take out the brush and rinse it with warm water. This will make sure all the dirt that is stuck on the surface is cleaned up. 

When you are done rinsing it with warm water, put the brush back in the mixture for a final attempt at removing all the filths. 

Let it sit in there for a few more minutes. It’s better to take a bit more time than repeating the whole “how to clean shower body brush” process, right?

Step 5 – Clean the brush under cold tap water.

The sudden temperature change will ensure you have no dirt left and the brush is thoroughly cleaned up. 

Just take out the brush and put it under cold tap water. You can also use water from the fridge. It’s up to you. 

But we suggest you clean it under tap water because the water pressure of the tap is more likely to clean the remaining residue.

Step 6 – Let the shower brush dry.

You’re almost done with the process. Now you have to let the brush dry. Please don’t use it immediately. 

You can hang the brush somewhere in your bathroom, or you can keep it under sunlight. The latter is our favorite because the sun can dry your brush faster while also killing any germs that survived the boiling water.

1. Will the chemical mixture harm my shower brush?

The chemical mixture is unlikely to harm the bristle of the brush. But to be sure, don’t let the brush sit in the boiling chemical water for too long.

You have to rinse and clean it every time it gets dirty (obviously). Usually, cleaning the brush once a week is recommended, but it may vary on how often you use the brush. 

3. How to extend the life of my shower brush?

The longevity of your brush depends on the quality and how you treat your brush. However, there is nothing you can do that guarantees prolong life but allow the brush to dry after each use.
