How To Clean Bathroom Tiles Mold With Vinegar?

Step 1. Spray Vinegar

spray vinegar

Take white vinegar in a sprayer bottle like the Rayson Empty Spray Bottle and spray it on the mold. Many websites advise preparing a vinegar solution instead of applying undiluted vinegar while cleaning bathroom tiles. Keep in mind that diluted vinegar is suitable for non-mold cleanings. To eliminate bathroom mold, you would need the raw power of pure vinegar.

Vinegar is a natural acid which makes it a potent cleaner. It loses some of its reaction capabilities when you mix water in it, but it still holds enough power to execute basic cleaning. Dilution protects the surface from the vinegar’s acidity, but when the surface is mold-infested, you need the full acidic force of vinegar to get rid of it.

Step 2. Scrub The Mold

Scrub the tiles with a soft scrubber. The mold should come off. Alternatively, you can dip a piece of rag cloth into vinegar and wipe the affected region with it.

Step 3. Finish Up With Anti-Fungal Spray

Allow the vinegar to dry off. 20/30 minutes would suffice. Then, spray some anti-fungal spray like the  MOLD ARMOR FG502 Mold and Mildew Killer + Quick Stain Remover. If you have read our black mold and ceiling mold articles, you might recall how highly we spoke of the product’s effectiveness.

You can consider spraying another layer of vinegar rather than using a commercial spray. But, we strongly recommend following up with a high-quality anti-mold spray. It will drastically reduce the likelihood of a mold relapse. On top of it, it will be less abrasive on tiles than vinegar and other acidic cleaning agents.

Rinse off after an hour.

How To Clean Tiles Mold With Lemon Juice?

Step 1. Apply Lemon Juice

5-6% of lemon juice is citric acid. So, it has an acidic property. But, it is not as strong as vinegar as an acid. So, diluting lemon juice for mold removal will not be a good idea. Take some lemon juice in a sprayer bottle and spray it on the target region.

Step 2. Scrub The Mold Off

Scrub the tiles with a soft scrubber. Or, take a lemon juice-soaked piece of cloth, and wipe the mold off. Spray some more lemon juice as you work the tiles.

Step 3. Apply Anti-Fungus Spray

Once the lemon juice dries off, spray a coat of anti-fungal spray. Give it an hour to work its magic. Then, wash away with water. It is not essential, but you can use hot water instead of regular temperature water to expect better outcomes.

How To Clean Bathroom Tiles Mold With Anti Fungus Spray?

Without going through the hassle of using a different cleaner, you can rely on your cleaning spray to complete the whole job. Just spray it over mold, scrub it off, let it dry and then apply some more cleaning spray. Finally, rinse with water.

How To Clean Tiles Mold With Baking Soda?

Step 1. Prepare A Cleaning Solution

Baking soda paste has been used as a household cleaning material for years. It also works on molds. You can simply mix equal amounts of water and baking soda to create a working formula. To kick it up a notch, you can add some more materials. We recommend going for the latter option if the mold has spread over a considerably wide area.

Take half a cup of baking soda and add a tablespoon of liquid soap to it. Then, throw in a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide. Stir the mixture well, and you will get a thick liquid, but not too thick for spraying. Pour the solution into a sprayer bottle and spray over the affected area.

Step 2. Wipe The Floor Clean With A Dry Rag

Wait 10/15 minutes after spraying. Do not scrub immediately. Give some time for the mold to disintegrate. Then, wipe the floor with a dry rag. The mold should get removed. If some mold gets left behind, reapply the solution and wipe it off afterward. Repeat this process as long as you notice mold stains.

Step 3. Apply Anti-Fungal Spray

As the finishing touch, spray some anti-mold spray on the area you have cleaned. Let it dry before rinsing it off.

How To Clean Tiles Mold With Bleach?

Step 1. Prepare A Bleach Solution

Bleach is an aggressive cleaning agent, so you have to be extra cautious while using it. Always take proper precautionary measures while handling bleach. Also, to protect the tiles from the abrasive nature, you need to dilute the mixture to the right extent. For tiles, a 1:3 solution would be perfect.

Not sure how to make a 1:3 solution? Add triple the amount of water to the amount of bleach you are using. For example, if you take three tablespoons of bleach, you have to attenuate it by adding nine tablespoons of water.

Step 2. Spray The Solution

Spray the mixture over the mold-affected tiles. Bleach diffuses harmful fumes, so turn on the bathroom exhaust fan while cleaning tiles with bleach. Also, keep the door open. Bleach causes skin irritation too.  Therefore, you need to wear a mask, safety goggles, and gloves when using bleach solutions.

Step 3. Rinse Off The Bleach

Wash away the bleach an hour or two later with water. Rinse the tiles with a rag cloth, and the mold will come off.

How To Clean Bathroom Tiles Mold With Ammonia?

Step 1. Prepare Ammonia Solution

Do not use undiluted ammonia to clean tiles. Like bleach, it is also a strong cleaning agent. But, you can prepare a thicker ammonia solution than bleach. A 1:2 ammonia solution would be perfect for dealing with bathroom tiles mold.

Step 2. Apply The Solution

Apply the solution with a sprayer bottle all over the mold-infested tiles. Switch on the exhaust fan to drive out the ammonia fumes. For extra protection, wear a mask, gloves, and safety goggles.

Step 3. Wash Off The Ammonia

The ammonia will not take more than an hour to come into effect. After that, you can rinse the ammonia off with a wet cloth. The mold should also go away in the process.

3 Tips To Keep In Mind

1. Never Mix Ammonia And Bleach

Since ammonia and bleach are so effective in removing mold, you might assume that a blend of the two would get rid of the most resilient layer of mold. In reality, combining ammonia and bleach could bring about lethal consequences.

Ammonia and bleach react to create chloramine, which can induce permanent lung damage. Severe exposure to chloramine can kill a person.

As a rule of thumb, refrain from mixing anything with bleach and ammonia other than water.

2. Clean The Corner Tiles With Cotton Balls

Have you tried cleaning tile corners with a regular brush or a sponge? If you have, you know how painstakingly difficult it is. Here is a hack that will make cleaning corner tiles a walk in the park for you. Dip a cotton ball into your preferred cleaner and run it over the corner. An old toothbrush can also do the trick.

3. Wax Can Save Your Tiles From Mold

We got this idea from Wikihow, and it is actually very effective in preventing mold infestations in your tiles at all. Spread a coat of wax on top of your ceramic tiles once a year.

In doing so, water will roll off the surface instead of pooling on the tiles and creating an ecosystem for mold to thrive. As a bonus, the wax coating will also make your bathroom shine like a diamond.

Turtle Wax 53409 Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating could be an excellent choice for this purpose.
